Serve on the team · Fall 2026

Help someone find their seat.

Alpha runs on volunteers: the people who cook dinner, host a table, pray, and press play. You don't need to be an expert in anything. You need to like people and show up on Tuesdays.

The roles

Pick the job that sounds like you

Most people serve in one role for the whole course. If you can only give a few weeks, hospitality is built for that — tell us what you can do and we'll make it work.

  • Weekly

    Table host

Sit with the same small group every week and keep the conversation open. You listen far more than you talk. Training provided.

  • Weekly

    Table helper

Back up a host: welcome people, notice who's quiet, help the chat along. A great first role if you've never served on Alpha.

  • Pick your weeks

    Hospitality & meals

Cook, serve, set tables, or clean up. Take one week or several — the meal is the heart of the night.

  • From home

    Prayer team

Pray for the course and the guests from home. You'll get a short email each week with what to pray for. No Tuesdays required.

  • Weekend only

    Worship

Lead a couple of simple songs at the weekend away in November. Guitar or piano and a warm voice is plenty.

  • Weekly

    Tech & AV

Run the projector and sound so the film starts on time and everyone can hear. We'll show you the room.

  • Weekly

    Set-up & welcome

Arrive early, arrange the hall, greet guests at the door, and make sure nobody sits alone.

Never done Alpha?

That's fine. Honestly.

The best hosts aren't theologians; they're good listeners who make people feel safe saying what they really think. Everything else — how a night runs, what to do with a tough question, how to handle a talker — we cover at team training on Thursday, September 17.

  • Guests are the priority. The team eats after they're served.
  • Listen more than you speak. Every opinion is welcome at the table.
  • Never argue, never preach, never fix. Questions beat answers.
  • What's said at the table stays at the table.
  • Pray for the people in your group by name, every week.
